PHS Artists' Works Win Scholastic Honors

Perkins High School artists achieved high honors in the regional round of the 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing competition. 

PHS senior Vivien Holop won a Gold Key-American Vision award in the annual competition for her portraiture portfolio that features eight of her best works. It is the first time the award has been given to a portfolio in our region. 

Vivien also won three Gold Keys and junior Ireland Bennett, senior Jordyn Hawkins, junior Zane Rohrbacher, junior Jasmine Sparks, and senior Emily Whitcomb each won Gold Keys. All the Gold Key works will be judged nationally.

PHS artists also won seven Silver Keys: Ireland Bennett won two, and junior Annelise Colaizzi, junior Nic Fresch, Jordyn Hawkins, and Vivien Holop each won one.

Perkins students also won 15 Honorable Mentions: Senior Lexi Wiedenheft won four, Jordyn Hawkins and sophomore each won two, Ireland Bennett, junior Kara Capizzi, sophomore Emma Lynch, freshmen Emma Manley, junior Octavia Schnittker, junior Diana Schoder, and Jasmine Sparks each won one in the regional competition.

There will be an Artists' Reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Stocker Center Gallery at Lorain Community College in Elyria.
