Kelly Green Hired As New Softball Coach

Batter up!

New Perkins High School softball coach Kelly Green has met her players. The Board of Education has officially approved her contract. Now, it’s time for Coach Green to get down to business.

On Friday, Dec. 14, Coach Green was introduced to her players.  “I got a lot of great feedback from my seniors,” Coach Green said. The Pirates shared traditions with her and Coach Green told the team a bit about herself.  A native of Perkins Township, as a kid she moved away to Michigan. She and her husband, Jeremy, and three daughters moved back to the district in 2007. She’s played softball for 24 years and has coached for five years.

On the field, she has played shortstop and outfield (her favorite). Her weakness, she confided, has been hitting. Coach Green also has played volleyball, soccer, and basketball.

Coach Green also set some goals for the team: A winning record, an SBC championship, and to have fun. Last year, the team posted a 4-8 record in the Sandusky Bay Conference and 7-17 record overall.

The 2018-19 season officially gets underway with practices starting Feb. 18. The team’s first game is against St. Mary Central Catholic on March 23. #GoPirates
